Ortho PT is happy to offer therapeutic massage services. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension.
Some studies have found massage may be helpful for:
- Insomnia related to stress
- Sports injuries
- Myofascial pain syndrome
- Paresthesias and nerve pain
- Digestive disorders
- Soft tissue strains or injuries
- Temporomandibular joint pain
Beyond the benefits for specific conditions or diseases, some people enjoy massage because it often involves caring, comfort, a sense of empowerment and creating deep connections with their massage therapist.
What you can expect during your massage
Our massage therapist, Carol, will ask you to fill out a questionnaire before your first massage appointment. This will give her information about your medical history and areas of tension and stress.
In a typical massage therapy session, you undress or wear loosefitting clothing. Undress only to the point that you’re comfortable. Please inform us if you might be allergic to any oils or balm ingredients.
Our office offers 30 and 60 minute massages in a private treatment room away from physical therapy activity. At this time, massage therapy is a service paid for up front and cannot be billed to your health insurance.
Brush aside any thoughts that massage is only a feel-good way to indulge or pamper yourself. To the contrary, massage can be a powerful tool to help you take charge of your health and well-being, whether you have a specific health condition or are just looking for another stress reliever. Gift certificates are available and are a great way to show appreciation to someone special in your life.
